Microdermabrasion & Dermabrasion
Dear Sir/Madam Would you please enlighten as to the difference between Microdermabrasion & Dermabrasion. I'm confused as to the methods & benefits of each of these treatments.

Dermabrasion is an aggressive rotating high speed ablation of the layers of the skin usually the (more) Similar sounding terms/names are only as that. They are COMPLETELY differing therapies! Dermabrasion is an aggressive rotating high speed ablation of the layers of the skin usually the epidermis into the dermal layers. The deeper into the dermis the treatment extends the more bleeding and longer healing time. Also thew potential of scarring. Vs microdermabrasion is a very very superficial therapy to slightly exfoliate the top few epidermal layers, rarely if ever would this invade into the dermis. Also microdermabrasion can be done by non medical doctors while true dermabrasion must be done by licensed doctors. Hope that helps (less) |
