Midfacelift /Cheeklift /Rhytec Portrait complications
I had the above procedures performed on July 27th. It is now 3 weeks post surgery. My right eyebrow doesn't move. I have numbness in my mouth, & my ears. My face is discolored as I have alot of redness and brown pigmentation on my chin area as well as on other areas of my face... I was put on desonide for the redness & hydroquinone for the brown area. Is this normal? How long will it take some time before I will see normal skin again. I'm using more makeup now to hide all the skin flaws. When can I expect my eyebrow to lift and the numbness to go away? It feels like I have a helmet on...

You have injury to the frontal branch of your facial nerve. This nerve allows for the eyebrow to elevate. If you are lucky, the injury resulted from retraction and stretching the nerve, and will therefore regenerate in time. You should see some twitching of the muscle in a month or so. If you are unlucky, the nerve was cut, and this may be permanent. Only time will tell. You also have sensory nerve injury, therefore numbness around the mouth. I can't diagnose which nerve as I have too little information. This should self correct over time. Finally, the pigmentaton should improve over time. It is due to bruising under the skin.
