After careful consideration, we got the device about 6 months ago. It has given our patients good results that they feel is worthwhile. It is somewhat painful, but that is easily managed with medications. The results are subtle but definitely there.I like it best for the lower face - jawline, jowls, loose skin around the neck, etc.
We're finding Ultherapy to be a very useful and effective procedure for the "right" patient. What is the right patient? Someone in good health who is not significantly overweight and without exaggerated laxity.
Patients in their 40's and 50's seem to have fairly consistent lifting and tightening effect. Older patients who have gone into a deeper collagen-loss cycle typically will need 2 treatments.
Long term (one year plus) results will be terrible. Ultrasound in a focused mode heats and destroys fat permanently, resulting in hollows and saggy skin. The idea sounded great, but the control of heat delivery is not desired where it winds up being.
I had Ultherapy done 4 months ago with NO results. In fact, I actually think I look worse, more gaunt - I hear this can be due to it targeting the little facial fat that is still there as we age. Also, it was extremely painful. I still have red marks and burn pain on either side of my neck. DON'T do it!
