Can a 24-year-old skinny person with low body fat be a good candidate for chin lipo?
I am a 24 year old male. 5'9" and 138 pounds. I'm really skinny, my body fat is about 8-9% but my jawline is not defined at all and I have a small double chin as well. I'd like to have a defined and chiseled jawline. I tried doing different kinds of neck- and jaw exercises but they didn't work. Can a chin liposuction be the solution? If yes, what kind of lipo would you recommend?
Yes, even someone who has a very low body fat percentage can have liposuction as long as they have a pocket of unwanted fat. It appears as though you do have excess fat of your neck, just beneath your chin. (There is no way to be 100% sure from photographs though) This is a very common area to liposuction. But my second recommendation to you would be to consider a chin implant. This will further improve the contouring of your jaw line and minimize your double chin. This can be done through a small scar inside of your mouth and will enhance your profile as well.
As far as your question about "which type of liposuction".... It really makes no difference. The companies who make the machines all want you to think their machine is the best, but the fact is, they are just machines. They all do the same things, remove fat. The fact is, you can get great results with any of them, or horrible results with any of them. It all depends on who is using them. It's the surgeon, not the machine that gives you the results! Don't get caught up in the hype about Vaser, Laser, ultrasonic, or Power Liposuction. Chose a surgeon who has great results and let them decide which machine to use.
Thank you for your comment. This is the answer I was hoping to get :). Now, I really don't want to change the shape of my chin. It's receding but I like it that way. Can lipo only without an implant bring good results? Is my skin elastic enough at 24 that I won't have any excess skin?
Lipo alone will be an improvement. Whether or not it is considered a "good" result, is a matter of opinion. I chin implant would definitely enhance the results. But, there is no question, that part is purely elective. If you are unhappy you can always get the implant later.
As far as elasticity..... From the looks of things in your photos, your skin will probably do fine. But! This really is better judged in person.
I would recommend an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. From your photos it looks as if lipo will help , but I would need to see you inperson to tell if it will really help or if you need a chin implant too.
I don't believe you will be satisfied with chin lipo alone. You would most definitely want a chin augmentation sooner or later (chin implant or by injection).
Good luck from NYC
I think your skin will likely be just fine. The reason for the chin implant is to give you a more aesthetic result. It will improve your profile. It's tough to have a "defined and chiseled jawline" as you desire when you are deficient in what should be the most prominent part of your jaw.
You would be a good candidate for chin liposuction. You would also benefit from a chin implant at the same time. These two procedures together could give you the defined result you are looking for.

Chin liposuction will not give you the desired result. A neck lift would more likely give you the desired result. A neck lift will give you a more defined jaw line while eliminating the extra skin under the chin.
