I have bags and lines under my eyes- what really works to remove or help them?
I am 41 and have always had great skin. Unfortunately I spent this last year crying alot and now have this yukky kinda baggy skin under my eyes & some lines. I have since quit crying but cannot find anything to help with the under eye issues. I have no other wrinkles or lines anywhere. I have tried many things on the market and it just seems to make things worse. Help!

Lower eye lid puffiness  May 6, 2011 12:46 PM

Lower eyelid puffiness has multiple components. The tissues that support fat pockets under the eye typically weaken as we age and as a result bulge out. There is also a significant amount of volume loss and shift that exaggerates the region. There are two ways to approach this problem: 1. Surgically, the fat pockets can be redistributed in order to even out the hollowness. Sometime multilevel fat grafting needs to be performed at the same time to even out the hollowness 2. non-surgically restylane filler can be injected in the areas of depression to even out the region.

the decision of having surgery or not will depend on the physical evaluation and degree of problem. For more information please take a look at this link

lines under eyes  May 10, 2011 11:24 AM

The CO2 Fraxel laser is by far the best for wrinkles under the eyes. If fat bags are also present a tran-conjunctival blepharoplasty is also indicated

What you need will depend on the underlying problem  May 11, 2011 11:29 AM

I agree with Dr. Azzizadeh - there are multiple reasons why the skin under your eyes can appear baggy. It is hard to point you in the right direction without pictures.
You need to speak to a good specialist (and preferably more than one) who can advise you on all of your surgical and non surgical options. Improving the appearance of your eyes can be as simple as getting a few injections of Botox. It could be that you need a bit of filler (Restylane or Juvederm) in the tear trough area that fills in an area of volume loss and smooths the contour of the lower lid. Often this eliminates the appearance of puffy under eyes without surgery and the effect lasts for 2 to 4 years. Laser is also an option for some people who have fine lines throughout the lower lid. Lastly, surgery can give great results to the patients who are good candidates.

Lower lid blepharoplasty will work great  September 13, 2013 3:13 AM

lower lid blepharoplasty will work great for you. If it was only fine wrinkles a laser resurfacing will be recommended.
