Fillers for Chin Projection?
Afraid to get chin implant. Is filler a good way to get results, although temporary?

It sure can be  May 27, 2009 11:47 AM

Depending upon your chin and jowl shape and relationship, A temproary filler is a great way to not only give you the look you are looking for, but can also give you an idea of how you would look with an implant to see how you would like it. We use this modality in my practice and patients are very happy with the result, and many choose to simply return every 5-6 months for reinjections. I hope this helps. R. Lee Steely MD ACS

Chin implant is a great procedure if performed by a competent plastic surgeon. While soft tissue filler may give you a small preview of a chin implant, it will not demonstrate it completely, as it is much softer and doesn't give as much definition.
Chin implants are typically made of silicone and are easily removable if a patient were to decide to change it or remove it. I would recommend avoiding gortex implants, which are not as easily removable.
Overall the recovery is relatively easy with high satisfaction rate.

fillers are great for the chin  July 23, 2009 4:28 PM

non surgical chin augmentation with an injectable filler (i like to use radiesse - it lasts about 10 to 12 months and gives excellent definition) is easy, quick, safe and inexpensive.
my only caveat is that if you need alot of projection and not a small to moderate amount, then surgery would be a better option. radiesse will project the chin out very well, but it is limited.
i do this procedure several times a week and have probably done about 500 of them. i have never seen side effects. i have converted some patients to a permanent filler (artefill) and they have had great results, but only patients who need a small amount of augmentation are candidates for artefill.
